Product Information

KE00098 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The Human PLA2G1B ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous human PLA2G1B. The assay recognizes human PLA2G1B. An antibody specific for human PLA2G1B has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The human PLA2G1B protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another antibody of biotinylated specific for human PLA2G1B is added to detect the captured human PLA2G1B protein. For signal development, horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody is added, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent.Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information

Phospholipase A2 group IB, also know as PLA2G1B, is a secreted member of the phospholipase A2 (PLA2) class of enzymes, is produced by the pancreatic acinar cells. PLA2G1B is a calcium-dependent enzyme which can catalyzes the hydrolysis of the sn-2 position of membrane glycerophospholipids to release arachidonic acid (AA) and lysophospholipids. PLA2G1B is involved in several physiological processes including cell contraction, cell proliferation and pathological response.
