Background Information

BLIMP1(B lymphocyte-induced maturation protein 1), also known as PRDM1(PR domain zinc finger protein 1), is an evolutionarily conserved transcriptional regulator originally described as a repressor of gene transcription(PMID: 35154079). BLIMP1/PRDM1 is widely expressed in multiple cell types including B lymphocytes, T lymphocytes, mammary luminal progenitor cells and skin epithelial cells. BLIMP1/PRDM1 is a master regulator of terminal B cell differentiation and may also function as a tumor suppressor in the pathogenesis of DLBCL, where it is frequently inactivated by mutations and deletions.
