Background Information
CLSTN2 gene encodes the synaptic protein calsyntenin 2, one of the three calsyntenin family members found in humans. CLSTN2 is expressed exclusively in the brain, with high levels occurring in cortical gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) interneurons and in medial temporal lobe regions (PMID: 19058786). Western blot analysis detected CLSTN2 at an apparent molecular mass of 107 kDa.
