Product Information

KE00520 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The human CD98/SLC3A2 ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous human CD98/SLC3A2. The assay recognizes human CD98/SLC3A2. An antibody specific for human CD98/SLC3A2 has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The human CD98/SLC3A2 protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for human CD98/SLC3A2 is added to detect the captured human CD98/SLC3A2 protein. For signal development, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information

CD98 is a 125-kDa type II membrane glycoprotein heterodimer composed of a 40-kDa non-glycosylated light chain (amino-acid transporter) and an 85-kDa glycosylated heavy chain (CD98hc). CD98hc also interacts with certain integrin b-subunits to regulate cell migration, survival, proliferation, and adhesion/polarity. CD98hc is overexpressed on the cell surface of many cancers and increased CD98hc expression is associated with the development and progression of tumors. Molecular orientation studies have demonstrated that the C-terminal tail of human CD98 (hCD98), which contains a PDZ-binding domain, is extracellular.
