Product Information
KE00238 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The TREM1 ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous TREM1. The assay recognizes human TREM1. An antibody specific for TREM1 has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The TREM1 protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another antibody of biotinylated specific for human TREM1 is added to detect the captured human TREM1 protein. For signal development, Streptavidin-HRP is added, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information
Triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells 1 (TREM1, also known as CD354) is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily, which is expressed on neutrophils and monocytes. TREM1 plays a role in the innate immune system. TREM1 amplifies neutrophil and monocyte-mediated inflammatory responses triggered by bacterial and fungal infections by stimulating release of pro-inflammatory chemokines and cytokines, as well as increased surface expression of cell activation markers. TREM1 can also exist as a soluble form (sTREM1). Increased plasma level of sTREM1 have been reported in specific diseases including Alzheimer's disease, systemic sepsis, acute myocardial infarction and subarachnoid hemorrhage.
