IFRD2, or interferon-related developmental regulator 2, is a protein that has been identified as a novel factor capable of translationally inactivating ribosomes. It plays a role in regulating gene expression by directly binding to 80S ribosomes, which precludes the binding of mRNA and P-site tRNA, thereby inhibiting translation
