Background Information

The human MS4A family currently includes 18 members, and these proteins have four putative transmembrane domains (tetraspan) and several protein kinase C (PKC) phosphorylation sites. Membrane-spanning 4-domains a7 (MS4A7) is a member of the MS4A family. It is expressed by myeloid cells. MS4A7 can act as a NAM-specific pathogenic factor that exacerbates metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) progression in mice (PMID: 38478630). There are two isoforms of MS4A7 protein, with molecular weights of 26.14 kDa and 21.41 kDa respectively.
