Background Information
Nuclear receptor 4A3 (NR4A3, also known as NOR-1), NR4A1 and NR4A2 are TFs belonging to NR4A orphan nuclear receptor subfamily. The role of all three NR4A members in regulating gene expression involved in cell proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis, inflammation and metabolism in cardiovascular diseases has been widely studied. In osteoblasts, NR4A receptor has been proved to regulate the expression and differentiation of osteoblast genes. It is reported that NR4A receptor is highly expressed in human coronary atherosclerotic lesions, and NR4A3 deficiency can reduce the proliferation and migration of VSMCs and the formation of neointima after vascular injury. Therefore, NR4A3 may play an important role in mediating phenotypic transformation of VSMC (PMID: 38629274). It is expected to be located in nucleus. The protein has three isforms, isoform alpha is highly expressed in skeletal muscle. Isoform beta is highly expressed in skeletal muscle and low expressed in fetal brain and placenta. The calculated molecular weight of NR4A3 is 68 kDa.
