Product Information

KE00385 is a solid phase sandwich Enzyme Linked-Immuno-Sorbent Assay (Sandwich ELISA). The rat Ferritin light chain 1 ELISA kit is to be used to detect and quantify protein levels of endogenous rat Ferritin light chain 1. The assay recognizes rat Ferritin light chain 1. An antibody specific for rat Ferritin light chain 1 has been pre-coated onto the microwells. The rat Ferritin light chain 1 protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody after incubation. Following extensive washing, another horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated antibody specific for rat Ferritin light chain 1 is added to detect the captured rat Ferritin light chain 1 protein. For signal development, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent. Solution containing sulfuric acid is used to stop color development and the color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm.

Background Information

FTL belongs to the ferritin family. It stores iron in a soluble, non-toxic, readily available form. FTL is important for iron homeostasis. It plays a role in delivery of iron to cells. FTL mediates iron uptake in capsule cells of the developing kidney. Mutation of FTL will cause hereditary hyperferritinemia-cataract syndrome (HHCS) or neurodegeneration with brain iron accumulation type 3 (NBIA3). Ferritin light polypeptide (FTL) and ferritin heavy polypeptide (FTH1) were the main constituents the striatum and cerebellar cortex revealed.
