Background Information

WDR41, or WD40 repeat-containing protein 41, is a protein that plays a role in regulating cellular processes, particularly in the context of neurodegenerative diseases such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and frontotemporal dementia (FTD). It is part of a complex that includes C9ORF72 and SMCR8, which has been shown to regulate autophagy and function as a Rab GTPase-activating protein (GAP). The C9ORF72-SMCR8-WDR41 complex is believed to participate in the regulation of membrane trafficking and autophagy-lysosome pathway.
