Stability and Reconstitution
Stability and Storage | Lyophilized proteins are stable for 1 year from the date of receipt if stored between (-20°C) and (-80°C). Upon reconstitution we recommend that the solution can be stored at (4°C) for short term or at (-20°C) to (-80°C) for long term. Repeated freeze thaw cycles should be avoided with reconstituted products. |
Reconstitution | Briefly centrifuge the vial before opening. It is recommended to reconstitute the protein to 0.2 mg/mL in sterile 1x PBS pH 7.4 containing 0.1% endotoxin-free recombinant human serum albumin (HSA). Gently swirl or tap vial to mix. |
Background
IL-12p40, also known as IL-12B, is a subunit of both the IL-12 and IL-23 cytokines. It is not thought to be bioactive on its own, but it has been shown to regulate IL-12 activity in antagonistic manner by competitively binding with the IL-12 receptor. IL-12p40 also functions as a chemoattractant molecule for macrophage infiltration into tumor sites. There has additionally been evidence to suggest that IL-12p40 mediates a protective immune response against mycobacterial infection by serving as a necessary component for granuloma formation and promoting Th1 effector cell functions (PMID: 17126601, 10453037, 11739515).
